D Chandrasekhar, President of Madras Dyslexia Association, conferred with the YGP Educationist Award
Chennai, June 10th, 2016: The 6th Mrs. Y.G.P Educationist Award presented in Memory of Late Smt. Kalyani Venkataraman was conferred on Mr. D. Chandrasekhar, (President Madras Dyslexia Association- MDA) for his pioneering work in the field of Dyslexia for the year 2015-16. The award was presented by chief guest – Rotarian CR Raju, in the presence of Guest of Honour Mr. Narendra Srisrimal, Leander Paes- Brand Ambassador for Girl Child Education and Fellow Rotarians- Rtn. Ravi Venkataraman, Rtn.Hari Marlecha, Rtn.Pankaj Davey.
The club also presented a cheque to MDA sponsoring 750+ children under the Sri Kamalabai SriSrimal Rotary, T Nagar, to educate the girl child project.
An IIT Madras alumnus, Sh. D. Chandrasekhar started MDA in the 90’s with a small group of parents interested in working on this field with a steadfast commitment. Since then MDA has been responsible for easy understanding and acceptance of Dyslexia by the schools, educationists and the teachers in and around Tamilnadu. It is the preeminent institution which has engaged itself in providing the much needed awareness, counselling and assessment facilities to children at risk. It further actively provides part time and full time remediation using a multi sensory approach.
