Chennai 14th May 2016 : Easwari Engineering College, Chennai and SRM University, Ramapuram Campus jointly organized Project Day on 14th May 2016. The Project Day witnessed around 200 working models and innovative projects displayed by students of Easwari Engineering College & SRM University - Ramapuram campus.
The exhibits were classified into four groups based on various branches of Engineering — Group I: Mechanical and Automobile Engineering; Group II: Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering; Group III Civil Engineering; Group IV: Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology. A team of experts drawn from leading industries and research institutes like DRDO, COMSTAR, TCS, HCL and ITT Research and Innovation Centre assessed the projects. Three attractive cash prizes were awarded for each group.
Dr. R. Shivakumar, Chairman, SRM Group of Institutions, Ramapuram and Trichy Campus in his presidential address congratulated the prize winners and called upon the students to develop lateral thinking abilities so as to provide scientific solutions to the societal problems. He announced that the best innovative project will be funded with seed money for commercialization and taken up for patenting. He distributed the cash awards to the winners and certificates to the participants.
Dr. T.S. Sridhar, Director, SRM Group of Institutions, Ramapuram and Trichy Campus in his felicitations highlighted the role of research and development in the growth of a nation. The objective of conducting such competitions is to recognize young scientific minds and motivate them to take up research with passion, he added.
Dr. B. Venkatachalapathy, Dean- Research, SRM Group of Institutions, Ramapuram and Trichy Campus felicitated the gathering. In his address he encouraged the students and teachers to involve in research activities and urged mentors to channelize the innovative ideas of the students in right direction.
