August 09, The Fourth Biennial International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICONN-2017) was organized by Department of Physics and Nanotechnology, SRM University in association with Shizuoka University-Japan, GNS (Geological and Nuclear Sciences) Science-New Zealand and National Chiao Tung University-Taiwan. SRM University is one of the premier universities in India providing various academic and research programs in different disciplines of Science and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Medical and Health Sciences, Management and Law. The conference is aimed at providing a platform for researchers and scientists to assess recent trends and developments in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology for promising applications. Scientific Sessions of the conference includes Nanostructures materials and thin films, Nanoelectronics Nanosensors and MEMS, Nanophotonics and Plasmonics, Nanomagnetism, to mention a few.
More than 20 scientific sessions were held with eminent speakers from world class universities such as Flinders University-Australia, Shizuoka University-Japan, Tohuku University-Japan, Victoria University-New Zealand and also from premier Institutes such as IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IISc-Bangalore, BARC-Mumbai and TIFR-Mumbai. The total number of participants in the conference was about 1100. In order to encourage young researchers best research awards for oral and poster presentations were presented.
The conference welcome address was delivered by Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Director (Engineering & Technology), SRM University, India, followed by note on conference by Dr. D. John Thiruvadigal, Convener, ICONN 2017. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, Founder Chancellor, SRM University followed by the address of Dr. T.P Ganesan, Pro Vice Chancellor (Planning and Development).
A special address was delivered by Dr. Edward Yi Chang, Senior Vice President, National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. Dr. D.K. Aswal, Director, CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, India delivered the inaugural address. Dr. N. Sethuraman, Registrar, SRM University, offered the felicitation and the inaugural function was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. R. Balasubramanian, Director (Science & Humanities), SRM University.
