Dr. Ulhas M. Pandurangi, Chief - Cardiac Electrophysiology & Pacing, Arrhythmia - Heart Failure Academy, The Madras Medical Mission, Patient - Mr. Baaskaran Subramaniam (53) from Malayasia

* The Madras Medical Mission (MMM) introduces a path-breaking technology (a first for India) that keeps the Heart Rhythm in control

* ‘3D – Electroanatomical Mapping System of the Heart – EnSite Precision’ to be the future of Heart Rhythm control and care

Chennai, June 2, 2017: The Madras Medical Mission (MMM), one of India’s leading multi-speciality hospitals, today announced the introduction of 3D – Electroanatomical Mapping System of the Heart – EnSite Precision, a technology that can control and cure heart rhythm abnormalities with the highest levels of accuracy. By bringing in this futuristic technology to India, MMM hopes to take cardiac care in the country to the next level.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ulhas M. Pandurangi, Chief – Cardiac Electrophysiology & Pacing, Arrhythmia - Heart Failure Academy, The Madras Medical Mission said, “Ever since the Department of Cardiac Electrophysiology & Pacing was established at MMM around two decades back, we have been in the forefront of cardiac care in the region. This department was the first in the state of Tamil Nadu to acquire the 3D mapping system way back in 2009. And now, we have taken another giant leap with the introduction of 3D – Electroanatomical Mapping System of the Heart – EnSite Precision. This technology, which is the latest in Arrhythmia Therapy results in less radiation; is more accurate, safer and fast; and limits physician errors.”

The EnSite Precision cardiac mapping system from St. Jude Medical (Minnesota, USA) offers the next-generation technology that allows for a high level of automation, flexibility and precision to help cardiologists to more effectively diagnose a wide range of arrhythmias.

The Department of Cardiac Electrophysiology & Pacing at MMM has already successfully treated four patients using the EnSite Precision technology.

Mr. Baaskaran Subramaniam (53) from Malayasia, who is among the first four patients to be successfully treated at MMM with the EnSite Precision technology, says, “I suffered from debilitating symptoms for several years. Being already aware of MMM’s advancements in cardiac care, when Dr. Ulhas Pandurangi suggested using the EnSite Precision technology, I immediately gave my consent. This new technology is fast and effective for sure. I started feeling better right after the procedure and am recuperating very fast. Like me, I hope more patients will benefit from this revolutionary technology in cardiac care in the days to come.”

The EnSite Precision cardiac mapping system is built on an open platform, allowing doctors to choose the diagnostic and ablation catheters which best meet the needs of their patients. The EnSite Precision cardiac mapping system also offers the choice of contact or non-contact mapping; compatibility with a wide range of diagnostic and ablation catheters; integration with most ablation generators and recording systems; integration with remote navigation systems and rotational angiography; and integration of magnetic and impedance data.

Each patient is unique…and hence doctors need the precision that we can rely on. The EnSite Precision cardiac mapping system uniquely combines impedance and magnetics, as a result of which we can enhance navigation and model creation,” adds Dr. Pandurangi.

The EnSite Precision cardiac mapping system is flexible and enhances workflow efficiency by allowing physicians to map heart chambers with any electrophysiology catheter and customize procedures to address the circumstances of each case.
