S.A Engineering College has set-up it’s Center for Excellence – Big-Data and Cloud Computing Environment
Chennai, March 17th 2017: S.A. Engineering College, a leading state-of-the-art educational institution set up a Center for Excellence – Big-Data and Cloud Computing Lab, within its college premises at Thiruverkadu; this has been funded by Department of Science and Technology under FIST scheme, Govt. of India. The Big-Data and Cloud Computing Lab aims to carry out Research & Development for the students as well to support the industries through consultancy work.
With the aforementioned facilities, the institution has established its own IT-HUB, in order to offer high quality training & Internship programs for students and software professionals to enrich their knowledge in the thrust areas and prepare them for highly-skilled jobs in emerging technologies, such as cloud computing, health-care informatics, finance, data integration, data analytics and software testing, for IT industries.
The course curriculum has been designed and developed in collaboration with industrial expectations and standards. The offered courses are taught by industrial experts, and the institution assists in acquiring certificates and arranging for placements.
The lab consists of a server room and attached with 250 clients PC’s, and is equipped with:

* 256 GB DDR4 Max Mem 1866Hz, 25 TB HDD
* Dell Monitor 19″, KB+Mouse
* Aten CS1308 mounted on 27U Rack with accessories

* Lenovo Desktop Corei5, 8GB DDR3 RAM
* 500 GB SATA HDD, LCD 18” TFT Monitor
The lab has an infrastructure that can manage and process exploding volumes of structured and unstructured data-in motion as well as at rest—and protect data privacy and security.

Venkatesh Raja, Director, S.A Engineering College said, “We are extremely delighted to open this center which enable students to learn, practice and research its courses in emerging technologies; Organizations in almost all the sectors is interested in using Big Data to collect insights that help them to take decisions which would drive efficiency, increase revenue or otherwise improve their businesses thereby creating new employment opportunities in emerging technologies”.
Dr.M.Subramaniam, the coordinator of SA IT-HUB, said, “We have initiated as SA IT-HUB, at smaller scale, to provide the students to acquire a driving knowledge on the thrust areas where industries works and to motivate Research. However, the second phase of our project planned to develop a Lab on WSN, Mobile Computing & IoT Lab and the third phase to develop a Lab on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics & Machine Learning.”
