CHENNAI: The 14th editor of the Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) beginning here tomorrow. would saw screening of 180 movies from over 85 countries, including special screening of two of the classics of former actor and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who passed away last month.
The week long event would be organised by Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation (ICAF) with the support of the Tamil film industry. The festival would be held from tomorrow till January 12.
The ICAF would present two of her popular films 'Aayirathil Oruvan' and 'Suryagandhi' as part of paying homage to her. Festival Director E Thangaraj said both the films would be screened in the Casino theatre on January 7 and 9.
There would be a competition section for Tamil Feature Films in which 12 movies were in the fray. They include '24', 'Amma Kanaku', 'Devi', 'Dharmadurai', 'Iraivi', 'Joker' among others. There would be an Indian Panorama section in which 15 films will be screened.
The country focus this time were Luxembourg (6 films), Brazil (5 films), Iran (10 films) and World Cinema (97 films).
