NEW DELHI: Opposition parties on Tuesday decided to raise the issue of demonetisation in both houses of Parliament, signalling disruptions in the winter session that starts on Wednesday.
Leaders of the Congress, Samajwadi Party, Communist Party of India-Marxist, Communist Party of India, Janata Dal-United, Trinamool Congress, Nationalist Congress Party and the DMK were present at a meeting held here to deliberate the issue.
Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad said the opposition will raise the issue in both the houses.
"This is a decision taken by the executive. So, we want to discuss this issue in Parliament. We will raise the issue in both houses," Azad said after the meeting.
Asked if the opposition also plans to meet President Pranab Mukherjee, the Congress leader said they first wanted to raise the issue in Parliament.
