Chennai, 9th September 2016: SPR group one of the leading real estate developers in Chennai organized a special, free Antenatal Healthcare Camp for the necessitous people of Perambur today. This initiative saw active participation from the community with over 500 pregnant women benefiting from the screening and advice of specialists.
Maternal mortality is predominantly higher among women living in rural areas and low-income communities due to in-access to quality health care. According to WHO around 830 women die during pregnancy or childbirth complications year on year. SPR has kick started the string of special antenatal health camps for women in low-resource settings in Perambur which will be held on the 9th of every month.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Pankaj Ojha, Chief Marketing Officer said, “As a home grown company we understand the pulse of the society well. Walking towards growth and transformation we also have our own responsibility in building a healthier community where people can live in harmony. Having regular antenatal checkups is important for expecting mothers to stay healthy and to make sure the baby’s health. We believe that this initiative by SPR will serve best to every indigent mother in this community.”
This initiative is aimed at helping women in the surrounding localities with improved healthcare coverage and to ensure an increase in normal deliveries. The camp covered screening and scanning for hemoglobin and other deficiencies.
