If you are looking at a business luncheon, the right venue is crucial to setting the tone! Southern Spice, the award-winning iconic South Indian specialty restaurant at Taj Coromandel is just that perfect spot. This iconic restaurant promises guests the most-genuine culinary experiences, with premium ingredients, customized serveware, cutlery, crockery and presentation. All this in a rich South Indian temple-inspired décor, reflecting the flavours of each of the four southern states of India.

In the kitchen, Executive Chef Sujan Mukherjee and his team have flexed their creative muscle designing a menu that’s light and fulfilling. Presented in traditional banana leaf thalis, this sophisticated sit-down Lunch Thali is available for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

The Vegetarian Light Meal comes with a pre-set meal of Sannas (Fluffy rice cakes from Mangalore) served with Kadala Gassi (Stewed black chickpeas in toasted coconut and byadgi chilli curry); Iddiyappam (Steamed rice string hoppers) with Pookose Edamame Kurma (Cauliflower and edamame beans); Appam (Rice hoppers) with Pachakari Ishtew (Seasonal fresh vegetables and potatoes with onion and green chillis, simmered in coconut milk); and Curd Rice with Vathal Kozhambu (Black nightshade berries in a pungent tamarind curry). Round off the meal with a healthy fresh fruit platter.

For Non-vegetarians, the Fluffy rice cakes, Sannas will be served with Kori Gassi (Chicken morsels with Byadgi chillies, coconut, fenugreek and tamarind - a Bunt specialty); Iddiyappam (Steamed rice string hoppers) will be paired with Usilampatti Kari Kozhambu (Slow simmered lamb cubes with a hint of poppy seed from rural Madurai); while the Appam (Rice hoppers) comes with Pachakari Ishtew (Seasonal fresh vegetables and potatoes with onion and green chillis, simmered in coconut milk). Steamed rice with Meen Kozhambu (Red snapper in a fenugreek, tamarind and tomato curry) finishes the main course and a fresh fruit platter completes this exotic meal experience.
