Hiring activity in Chennai grows by 19% in May’16 over May’15: Naukri Job Speak Index
* Hiring in IT-Software is up by 30%
* ITES recorded an impressive growth of 34% during the same period
* Auto and Auto Ancillary witnessed a growth of 11%
Chennai, 14thJune, 2016: The Naukri Job Speak Index for Chennai in the month of May 2016 was at 1655 as compared to 1396 in May 2015, thus reporting an increase of 19% in the hiring activity. Among the key sectors of the city, Automobile posted a growth of 11% while Insurance recorded an impressive growth of 31% during the same period. On the other hand, Real Estate, witnessed a dip of -6% in the Naukri Job Speak Index for May 2016.
V. Suresh, Chief Sales Officer, Naukri.com, said “The city of Chennai has witnessed a growth of 19% in hiring activity in May 2016 over May 2015. Increased hiring activity is seen in sectors such as Insurance, Auto and IT-Software. Looks like good times are ahead for jobseekers in the city.”
Industry Sector Analysis: Sectors such as IT-Software and Insurance witnessed a growth of 30% and 31% respectively. Among the leading sectors of the city, Automobiles witnessed an increase of 11% and Real Estate saw a dip of -6% in the May’16 index.
Functional Area Analysis: Demand for IT-Software professionals witnessed an increase of 33%, Sales and Business Development professionals also saw their jobs going up 19%. Accounts and ITES professionals also witnessed growth in hiring activity by 22% and 49% respectively in the May 2016 index.
