Sagar (MP), Jun 3 (PTI) A sub-engineer posted at a corporation office here was caught red-handed by Lokayukta sleuths while he was allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor to extend official favours.
R K Pandey, posted at Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Development Corporation office, was apprehended red-handed the moment he took Rs 50,000 bribe from the contractor last evening at his office, Lokayukta Police Deputy Superintendent of Police K K Agrawal said today.
The engineer had demanded three per cent commission from the contractor for clearing his pending payment of Rs 40 lakh for a construction work of a Police Training School.
The complainant also alleged that in the last few years he had paid more than Rs 30 lakh to Pandey for clearing bills worth Rs 4.5 crore, the DSP said.
A case has been registered in this regard under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigations is on.
