National, October 26, 2017: Close to 1.25 lakh people who fly IndiGo every day are coming in support of the “breast cancer awareness campaign” initiated by two of the country’s well-established corporates: GE Healthcare and IndiGo. #BEPROACTIVE - a nationwide awareness campaign kick started on 20 October 2017 with an aim to ensure more women are made aware of breast cancer and undertake preventive screening. Recognising the urgency to spread the word, IndiGo colleagues across 39 domestic airports are ensuring to share leaflets and luggage tags with women flyers which has a message saying “Breast cancer awareness and early detection is critical for survival”.
The initiative has drawn support from 70+ partner hospitals across the country who have come forward to provide free counselling/ consultation and discounted screening. As part of the campaign, awareness camps are also being organized for employees of all airlines and service providers working in airports across the country. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign by National Breast Cancer Foundation to increase awareness about the disease.
