Students of Jain Group of Institutions achieve a world record, for being the first school ever with the largest contingent to successfully complete the Everest summit!
Hyderabad, 21st October 2017 : October 18th 2017 is a Red lettered day for Jain Group of Institutions (JGI) of Hyderabad as 26 students + 6 adults led by Ms. Jahnavi, India’s Youngest Professional Mountaineer; Dr. Krishna, Director Janjay Adventures and Dr. Chadrashekar DP; CEO, JGI, completed their summit and reached Everest Base Camp.
JGI is the first school ever to send the largest contingent for this expedition and which successfully completed the summit. This is a WORLD RECORD as declared and endorsed by Nepal Mountaineering Associations today.
The idea was conceptualized by Dr Chandrashekar DP, after meeting Ms. Jahnavi four months ago. The ball started rolling in the month of July by conducting Physical fitness test for all students above grade V in all the three branches of JGI schools at Shameerpet, Tadbund and Kondapur. Finally 26 students could sustain the rigorous training given by JanJay adventures for 45 days and then the Trek commenced on 10th October from Lukla to Phakding which is 2652 m, followed by a trek upto 3440 m to Namche, there by Tengboche upto 3860m and to Dingboche by trekking up to 4360m and reaching Lobuche at 4940m and finally to Gorakshep at 5170, to hike to Everest base Camp at 5364 m, which was completed by 18th October.
The best part of this expedition is the contingent which includes a 7 year old young boy with other 13 boys and 12 girls to a 50 year old professional coach from JanJay team, who exhibited equal energy and determination till the summit was completed. THE LARGEST CONTINGENT OF SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE WORLD TO ACCOMPLISH EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK 2017 ARE ARRIVING IN HYDERABAD ON 23RD OCTOBER.
