The Crescent School of Business (CSB) conducted its Annual Operations Conference on 13th October 2017 under the leadership of Rev.Dr.Fr.Casimir Raj. Various topics were covered by eminent speakers such as use of Artificial Intelligence, application of Robotics, the emergence of Blockchain Technology, use of technology for affordable Healthcare and a holistic view on the use of Data Analytics.
Mr.S.Krishna Kumar, Former VP of Lucas TVS kicked off the day with his take on evolution of operations thanks to his rich experience of over 48 years. He visually showed the participants a clear distinction between manual and robotic processes. He also threw light on the digitization of information systems to help managers forecast and meet demand more accurately.
The Director of Deloitte, Mr.Ajit Mathai talked about the advent of technology and how inclusivity and well being of the lower classes and under privileged can be achieved leveraging throwing light on the healthcare industry with Telemedicine and the use of Electronic Medical History database.
Following this, Mr.Pandiarajan, Industry Principal of Infosys showed a number of examples of usage of robots in various fields and hence the increase in efficiency of operations. He also explained the various advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and underlined the growth of machine learning capabilities with a lot of illustrations and examples.
Post lunch, Mr.Anand Sampthraman spoke about how the world has moved on from man machine interaction to machine to machine communication. He said that the technology has moved much ahead of our needs. It is upto us to figure out the possibilities underlining the importance of listening to customer needs and figuring out solutions.
Next, Principal Architect Mr.Selvaraj Ganesan explained to the audience the how organizations will leverage the use of Block chain technology and also focused on the emergence of Digital currency such as Bit coin and Etherium, and also on the latest advancements made by IBM with Hyper ledger.
The Director of Latent View Analytics, Mr.Ganesh Sanakarlingam talked about making sense of all the data from various intelligent systems with analytics. With examples in the real world, he stated that the managers of tomorrow will need to know how to talk to machines and how coding has now become an essential language.
Panel discussions and Q&A moderated by Prof.C.Rajendran of IIT Madras and Rev.Dr.Fr.Casimir Raj, touched on topics such as the need for reforming the current MBA curriculum and the role of humans in a technology driven future. The event saw over 80 participants including students, faculty from various institutes and domain experts from leading organizations.
