Cambridge English awards Best 25 Preparation centres for Higher Education in South Asia

Chennai, 21st September, 2017: Cambridge Assessment English (Part of the University of Cambridge) organized the Best 25 Preparation Centre Awards for Higher Education in South Asia at the British Deputy High Commission in Chennai today.

The event is aimed at acknowledging the best preparation centres for Cambridge English exams for the higher education sector in South Asia, and to create awareness on leveraging technology in education. Key stakeholders, heads of institutions from various higher education institutions across South Asia,  academicians and other guests have participated in the event.

The occasion also included a panel discussion titled “Transforming learning and teaching - reimagining technology”.  The key panelists were Mr. Anand Pillai - MD, Leadership Matters Inc., Mr. Geoff Stead - Director of Digital, Cambridge English Language Assessment, Dr. Karthick Sridhar - Vice Chairman, Indian Centre for Academic Rankings & Excellence Pvt. Ltd., and Mr. Sunil Paliwal, IAS - Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Govt. of Tamil Nadu.  The extremely enlightening discussion generated awareness on the various opportunities to leverage technology to transform the classrooms so as to make the teaching and learning process more engaging for both students and teachers.

Mr. Bharat Joshi, Deputy High Commissioner, British Deputy High Commission, Chennai was also a key speaker at the event.  The awards recognised and rewarded the efforts of the higher education institutions across different categories such as Excellent growth, Best academic support for students, Outstanding support for teachers, Best innovation, and Best employability support for students.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. T K Arunachalam, Regional Director - South Asia, Cambridge English Language Assessment said, “We are delighted to host this ceremony to acknowledge and award these institutions for the excellent efforts and initiatives they have undertaken to prepare their students for the real world. We are witnessing a revolution in the way learning is delivered in the classroom and Cambridge English is proud to play the role of a catalyst to these award winning institutions who have created path breaking models for English language skill development.”
