A solo show featuring works of Chennai based award winning artist Arunagiri Sundaram
Chennai 18th September 2017: To encourage the local and upcoming artists, Dimple’s Art Gallery in association with Brew Lifestyle, inaugurated the second exhibition series“Season of an Artist’s Voyage” at Dimples Art Gallery, recently.
The second edition of the exhibition displays a solo feature of Chennai based award winning artist Arunagiri Sundaram who started his career as a sculptor at the age of 15. Since, then his creations went through all forms of explorations - having started out of clay initially but later diversifying into various materials and textures including cement and metals.
Then his interest turned towards portraits (oil medium, also with water colors) and landscape which, was closer to his heart. He also toyed the mixed medium formats, for a while.
In the past four years, he has switched from realist to contemporary style of art making, so as to show his passion towards South Indian culture, tradition and festivities. This is his attempt of reigniting the joy of culture, which is slowly being forgotten - by focussing on the forms and objects that he paints.
Commenting on this, Mrs Dimple Jain, Promoter, Dimples Art Gallery said, “It gives me an immense pleasure to display an award winning artists Arunagiri Sundaram works at our art gallery.This is the second exhibition in the Art Brew Series in which we are associating with Brew Lifestyle to encourage the local talents and upcoming artists. This series started with the 13 year effort of Actor, Artist and Photographer Srirama Santhosh who had encapsulated the 'Big Temple' of Tanjore with his mesmerising photographs. We are looking forward to display more such artist works at our gallery in feature”.
The exhibition opened on 15th September 2017 and will be on till 30th September 2017. Gallery timings are 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and the venue address is Dimple’s Art Gallery, 27/10, Shafee Mohammed Rd, Thousand Lights, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
