Uber Launches Uber Scholars In Chennai

Chennai, September 5, 2017: Uber, the world’s largest on demand ride sharing company, recently launched Uber Scholars in Chennai. Through this initiative, scholarships were provided to over 100 driver partner’s children across Tamil Nadu. From LKG to Engineering, the education fee for all these students was funded by the company.

Arjun Srinivasan, General Manager, Uber – Chennai said, “We aim to engage holistically with all our driver partners. Ensuring quality education for their children has emerged as a key aspiration and with the Uber Scholar program we provide a support of up to Rs.15000 to eligible partners. We are proud to make education a reality for many more children.”

Students studying in institutions across the state benefited from the Uber Scholars program. Some of the educational institutions included Madras Christian College in Chennai, Sri Ramanujar Engineering College in Chennai, Velammal New Gen Park School, Solinganallur, Madras Seva Sadan Higher secondary school, Chetpet, Dr Abdul Kalam Nursery and Primary School, Kottaipattinam and Dr VGN MHSS Arakonam to name a few.

Uber is committed to touch all aspects of its driver partners’ lives, benefiting not just their business, but their families too. From providing free accidental insurance to eye check-ups, Uber aims to scale initiatives that will positively impact their lives.
