From 2005 India is part of product patent regime and hence no new molecules can be launched by Indian pharma companies but by MNC’s.
Strict regulatory procedures includes control on licences for fixed dose combination, difficulties in launching nutritional products, notification making Bioequivalence mandatory for many formulations etc.
Price control on all routinely selling drugs, Threats like emerging of online pharmacy, notification to doctors to prescribe generic medicines are all posing major challenges on startups and growing companies and Practical difficulties in implementing of GST.
3rd Edition of Pharma South aiming to update and prepare the new and growing entrepreneurs on these challenges. Various lectures and seminars are planned.
Eminent speakers will discuss the topic on Scope in Exports for Startups and Growing Companies, Solutions on Practical Challenges of implementing GST in Pharma, and Importance of Trade Mark for Startup's and Growing Companies.
Tamil Nadu is the state which has more than 400 small and new pharma entrepreneurs.
Tamil Nadu was the state which had the First Pharma Park in India that is during Dr. M.G.R regime in 1979. Incidentally that was the last Pharma Park too. The state has separate biotech policy now but no pharma policy yet.
We need to support the pharma entrepreneurs by promoting various schemes for them and exclusive pharma parks with special schemes. Earlier Tamil Nadu government given purchase preference for the state owned manufacturing companies which was withdrawn later. This can be reintroduced to help the growing pharma companies.
