Namma Veedu Vasanta Bhavan Launches “VB Heritage” @ Mylapore

Chennai, 15th June 2017: Namma Veedu Vasanta Bhavan, a chain of speciality vegetarian restaurants has come up with a vintage concept restaurant VB Heritage. An all new culinary experience inspired by Vintage South Indian Cuisine amidst ambience reflecting the temple town of Namma Mylapore.

This restaurant is located right opposite to the open Kapaleeshwarar temple tank forced to bring the same kind of openness into the design and entry. Creating “Thinnai” seating at the entry and alongside the passage brought in a touch of tradition even in the style of seating. Intricate Kolam and floral patterns found in temples were the inspiration of any design element, be it the flooring or the brass grill designs. Wood is a strong element that flowed through the design to create the heaviness and richness found again in temples.

This 70 seater capacity restaurant has a traditional feel to it, yet it is new, modern, and maintainable.

Mr. Ravi Muthukrishnan, Director, Namma Veedu Vasanta Bhavan said, “Our VB Heritage’s design concept aimed at bringing in a homely feel with the use of materials that would definitely be a part of anyone's childhood or everyday life. Apart from the regular menu of our restaurant we have also focused on bringing in some of the healthy & traditional dishes. Some interesting dishes that will attract the attention of the customers are Godhumai Pongal, Ilai Adai, Ulundhan Kali, Chola Paniyaram, Palakkai Briyani, Karupatti Pongal, Panagam..etc to name a few”.

Encouraging local artisanal products is one of the key missions of the restaurant. Special hand painted Aathangudi tiles were used for the flooring to keep in touch with our tradition.

Speaking on the launch Ms. Swarnalatha Ravi, Managing Director, Namma Veedu Vasanta Bhavan stated that, “We have tried to bring in the old charm of NAMMA MYLAPORE in our restaurant. Mylapore - the name came from "Mayil Arparikum Oor" which means the land of peacock's scream. The AC hall of our restaurant reflects the peacock theme in many ways starting from tables to the fabric seating and wall niches were in the same feathered fan pattern. Rich Benares fabrics with the use of bevelled mirrors, karaikudi flooring and painted wall band all work together to promote a traditional palace feel.”

VB Heritagelocated @ No. 41, South Mada Street, Mylapore, Chennai- 600 004.
