This admission season registered around 2 lakh students. Online entrance exam, SRMJEEE, took place in 121 venues across the country. The online test was administered from 1st to 30th April 2017. That the university is popular with regions outside the state boundaries of Tamil Nadu is reflected by the demand distribution: 7929 Candidates from Uttar Pradesh, 7298 candidates from Tamil Nadu, 6890 candidates from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, 4580 candidates from Delhi.
Counseling for admission to B.Tech is scheduled from 14th May 2017, will go till 22nd May 2017 and for M.Tech on 23rd May 2017. Simultaneously, SRM Engineering Counseling Carnival is also held between 12th May and 23rd May 2017, for which the parents and the prospective students are being invited to the Kattankulathur Campus.
The carnival aims to provide an opportunity to parents and prospective students to get to know of the multi- faceted professionalism of SRM University in developing future Engineers. This will assist the students in making the right choices and right decision to secure the student’s future.
The Counseling is administered centrally at Kattankulathur for the four campuses of SRM – Chennai, SRM Delhi, SRM Haryana and SRM Amaravati. On the first day of counselling (i.e 14th May 2017), Dr.Parrivendhar, Chancellor, SRM University awarded several scholarships to recognize and reward highly talented students, including Founders’ Scholarship – 100% waiver of tuition and hostel fees which was offered to top 100 rank holders of SRMJEEE for their excellent performance in the examination and 38 candidates were offered the Employee ward Scholarship.
Also, Socio – Economic scholarship, differently-abled scholarship, SRM Arts & culture scholarship and scholarships to outstanding sports persons were awarded.
At the close of the day of counselling, there was high demand for CSE and Mechanical Engineering Programmes.
