NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday telephoned Emmanuel Macron, the President-elect of France, and congratulated him on his victory and said he is looking forward to working with him.
"Called President Emmanuel Macron to convey my congratulations on his victory in the French Presidential election," Modi said in a tweet.
"I look forward to working with President Emmanuel Macron to further deepen cooperation between India and France," he added.
Macron, 39, was elected France's next president on Sunday after he emerged victorious over his far right rival Marine Le Pen.
