Apollo Hospitals Group signs Clinical Collaboration Agreement with China Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital
Chennai, March 15: In a first of its kind in India, Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital China which specializes in Renal Diseases & Diabetes have reached a clinical collaboration agreement with Apollo Hospitals, Center for Liver Diseases and Transplantation.
This was facilitated by Canzaps Consultancy Services, the Indian representative office of Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital China.
Dr Shi Wei from Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital presented on Chinese scenario on renal diseases and healthcare model of Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital. Dr. Anand Khakhar (Program Director, Center for Liver Diseases & Transplantation at Apollo Hospitals), presented on the Indian scenario.
In a live televised message, Dr Prathap C Reddy, Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group stated that "I am happy to note that our Center For Liver Diseases and Transplantation at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai and our International Patient Services Division have reached a clinical collaboration with the SJZ- Kidney Disease Hospital Group, China. Subbiah Viswanathan (Chief Operating Officer of Apollo Hospitals) Dr Kang Suobin, Ms Sally Bai, from Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital, Dr Srinidhi Chidambaram and Mr Shafeeq Azam, local representative of SKDH-China were also present.
Zhao Zhiye (Vice President of Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital) stated that they are quite excited to be in India and at Chennai, the healthcare capital of India. He also remarked that he was impressed by the Apollo clinical model and look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.
Subbiah Viswanathan, COO of Apollo Hospitals, Chennai in his felicitation stated that, at Apollo, we have always welcomed clinical collaborations and most of the time this is with the western world, however this new association with SJZ-KDH is interesting as we pioneer such a connect between India & China, the growth engines of modern world.
Bai Xueyu, Director of International Department from SKDH stated that, we always respect the Indian advancements in healthcare and we were delighted to learn about Apollo Group. The collaboration with Apollo’s Liver unit will help us develop liver programs and we would share academic insights on our renal and liver care programs.
Dr Srinidhi Chidambaram, Vice President – International Division of Apollo Hospitals, in her address, stated that for the last couple of years, we have had patients from China coming for health checks and Hep –C management. However, institutional engagements were not in place and with SJZ-KDH, this becomes a reality. This would also be a value add to India’s medical travel scenario.
Speaking at the occasion, Shafeeq Azam, CEO of CANZAPS stated that he is delighted to be part of such a clinical collaboration and India and China can benefit with each other’s advancements in healthcare. Shafeeq further remarked that though close neighbours with lot of trade relations, healthcare collaboration was still at minimal stages and today with India’s largest hospital group and China’s leading Kidney disease hospital agreeing to work together, the scenario is set to change.
