CHENNAI: Out of the total allotment for Southern Railway during 2017-18 budget, the outlay for Tamil Nadu is Rs 2287 crore (Rs 1636.00 during 2016-17) and the outlay for Kerala is Rs 1206 crore (Rs 1014.06 crore during 2016-17).
The state-wise projects for works for Tamil Nadu includes doubling of a 11km section -- Salem - Magnesite Junction - Omalur -- (Rs.76.43 crore) , four electrification projects (Rs 404.16 crore), traffic facility of Rs 19.76 crore and 12 proposals for construction of 28 railway over bridge and railway under bridge and subways at a cost of Rs 382.9 crore.
