DHARMAPURI: A woman and her daughter-in-law were found dead in their home at Palacode in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu on Thursday night.
The deceased have been identified as D Athilakshmi, 55, and her daughter-in-law M Jothi, 24.
The Palacode police said Athilakshmi and Jothi used to fight with each other often. "Jothi wanted to leave her mother-in-law's house and live with her husband and children elsewhere. But her husband, Murugan, was not ready to do so as his mother was alone."
On Thursday afternoon, a quarrel erupted between Jothi and Athilakshmi. Murugan pacified them and went out for work.
He returned home late in the evening and found his children standing outside the house.
Murugan went inside and found the bodies of his mother and wife hanging from the ceiling of the house. He alerted the police. The bodies were sent for postmortem.
Police investigates the case further and waiting for postmortem reports.
