CHENNAI: A 60-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit at her home on the Habibullah Road at T Nagar in Chennai on Monday.
Police identified the murdered as Shanthi. She was living alone. The murder might have happened on Sunday, police said.
The incident came to light on Monday morning when her relative, Ramesh, came to check on her as she failed to attend his phone calls. Ramesh alerted police.
Police pressed a sniffer dog into service. They collected finger prints from the house and footage from a CCTV camera in the area.
Police sources said a security guard at an opposite building had seen a man trying to sneak into her house two days ago. The man escaped from the spot when the security guard approached him.
