VELLORE: An eight-year-old boy died of snakebite near Ranipet in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Sundaresan, son of Ranganathan of J J Nagar in Seekarajapuram.
The snakebite happened around 10.30pm when the boy and his parents were sleeping in their hut. The boy screamed after the snake bit him on his neck.
The parents of the boy and neighbours rushed him to a private hospital in the area. Doctors at the private hospital referred him to Government Hospital in Walajapet. However, he died even before reaching the Government Hospital. Police registered a case.
