RAMESWARAM: The Indian coast guard recovered about 17.05 kg of ganja embedded under sand off Rameswaram coast in Tamil Nadu.
As per reports, coast guard appointed Hovercraft ACV H-190 which undertook combing operation and scooped out ganja covered with polythene bags that was buried under sand near Fourth Island off Rameswaram coast.
"The unearthed drug was given to Customs officers," a Coast Guard release said.
“It is suspected that the contraband was smuggled from Andhra Pradesh and was intended to be ferried to Sri Lanka. A detailed investigation is being undertaken with the assistance from customs, police, and Narcotics Control Bureau”, it said.
