CHENNAI: The Registry of the Madras High Court on Monday informed the court that a comprehensive proposal for installation of CCTV cameras in all the courts across the State would be submitted in four weeks’ time.
Recording the submission, the First Bench of Chief Justice S.K. Kaul and Justice R. Mahadevan posted the Public Interest Litigation petition moved by advocate S. Kasiramalingam seeking for a direction to the State government to install CCTV cameras in all the courts to October 17 for further hearing.
When the plea came up for hearing, the petitioner submitted that even as per the counter-affidavit filed by the State, the cost for providing CCTV cameras for the entire court premises in Tamil Nadu will not go beyond Rs. 5 crore.
