CHENNAI: With not a single opposition member present in the assembly, AIADMK ministers and MLAs had it easy on Friday.
Many MLAs were seen looking at their mobiles, while some desultorily flipped through magazines or sipped tea with snacks. Incidentally, assembly rules prohibit members from carrying mobile phones into the hall.
Many ministers were absent or took leave from the assembly as they were not needed to counter opposition MLAs. The only noise that was heard was the rhythmic tapping of the tables by treasury benches. The speaker wound up the day's agenda by 3pm.
