NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated shuttler P.V. Sindhu, who entered the final of the women's singles badminton competition at the Rio Olympics.
"Superb performance @ PvSindhu1. You make India proud! Best of luck for the finals. #Rio2016," Modi wrote in a message at Twitter.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi also congratulated Sindhu for her "inspiring victory".
"P.V. Sindhu has made the entire nation proud by her spirited game," she said in her message to the player.
Sindhu registered a 21-19, 21-10 triumph in the semi-finals over Nozomi Okuhara of Japan.
