TIRUVANNAMALAI: The eardrum of a Class IX student of Government Higher Secondary School at Kattampundi in Tiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu was ruptured after he was allegedly slapped by the physical education teacher during school hours on Thursday.
Hariharan, 13, son of Narayanan, was admitted to Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College Hospital on Friday after he complained of pain in the ear.
"Doctors at a private hospital examined him and told the eardrum was torn," claimed the boy's mother Vijaya. The police filed a case on the basis of the boy's statement.
The boy's eardrum was torn after the physical education teacher, John Milton, who was appointed by the parents-teachers association as temporary faculty, slapped him badly during the school hours, Vijaya said.
