More than 1000 NSS volunteers of SRM University along with several faculty members participated in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a cleanliness campaign launched by the government of India on 145th birthday anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd of October, 2014 at Rajkot, New Delhi.
The Clean India rally took place on 12th August 2016 involved NSS volunteers, coordinators and Initiating Fusion of SRM University. The rally started from SRM University Arch Gate, the main campus connecting NH-45, Valliammai Engineering College entrance, Tech Park Avenue, Tech Park and finally Java Green. Various cultural activities like dancing and singing songs on the theme of Clean India took place at various strategic points.
The volunteers carried broomsticks and garbage bags with them to clean up trash lying around the campus, in the process cleaning all the roads and play grounds in the campus.
